Moms know that a great park day doesn't just happen... it's all about the preparation. 2. The Basics
-
Snacks, snacks, and more snacks! Think easy-to-eat, mess-free options like fruit slices, cheese sticks, crackers, or granola bars.
-
Water bottles, staying hydrated is key, especially on warm days. Refillable bottles are a win.
-
Sunscreen & hats. Even on cloudy days, protecting yourself and your little ones from the sun is a must.
-
Wipes & tissues for sticky fingers, snack spills, or muddy knees. You’ll use them a lot.
-
Hand sanitizer, because park bathrooms aren’t always the most reliable for hand washing.
-
Mini first-aid kit, just the basics: bandaids, antiseptic wipes, and a small tube of sunscreen or bug spray.

3. For Play & Comfort
-
Blanket or mat for sitting, snacking, or nursing if needed. Waterproof and easily folded blankets are a bonus.
-
Spare clothes for the kids. Parks have a magical way of making kids very dirty or wet, very fast.
-
Bubbles or chalk are easy items to keep little ones busy for a long period of time! They are a simple entertainment that never fails to delight.
-
Balls, frisbees, or sand toys. This can depend on your kids’ ages and the park setup, pack a few favorite go-to toys.
-
Books or quiet toys. If you’re planning for a longer park stay, or have a child that needs some quiet time, a few quiet toys and books are perfect for a little downtime under a tree.

4. Optional Smart Extras
-
Bug spray – Especially important for wooded or grassy areas.
-
Foldable wagon or stroller – Helpful if you have a lot to carry or younger kids who tire easily.
-
Layers - Spring weather isn’t always dependable so having an extra layer of clothes to throw on is always helpful.
-
Rain poncho or umbrella – Again, spring weather can be sneaky. It’s always good to be prepared!
Super Mom Tip: Pack the Night Before
If you know you're heading out in the morning, pack your bag the night before. It’ll save you from scrambling, or forgetting items, as you’re trying to get out the door.
Remember: Keep It Simple
Don’t forget, the point of the park day is to enjoy yourself and your kids. You don’t need to pack a Pinterest-worthy picnic or an entire toy box. A little preparation and a flexible mindset go a long way. Grab your bag, your kiddos, some caffeine for yourself, and go soak up some sunshine.
