Fun Valentines Activities to do with Kids
Valentine’s Day is a fun way to make some regular activities a little festive. We’ve collected a few fun and easy Valentine themed activities to do with your little ones! While all of these activities are great to get your little one’s mind working, they are also quick and easy - allowing you to enjoy some quality time with your child!
Valentine Playdough from Pre-K Pages
Supplies:
- Playdough
- Small rolling pin
- Pipe cleaners
- Beads
- Heart Cookie cutters
- Straws
- gems
Instructions:
- This is the perfect example of taking a regular activity your child loves and putting a festive spin on it! Grab some play dough, a small rolling pin, and all the fun little valentine themed items you’d like! Allow your child to build and create! Leave this activity open-ended, with no predetermined outcome, this will allow them the freedom to use their creativity!
Love Bugs from Nifty Thrify DIYer
Supplies:
- Craft pompoms
- Pipe cleaners
- Foam hearts
- Googly eyes
- Hot glue
Instructions:
- Pick a foam heart and glue a pompom on top of the foam heart
- Use pipe cleaners to make antennae
- Curl, straighten, or even add small pompoms to your bug’s antennae!
- Glue on googly eyes
Shake It Up Hearts from Sunny Day Family
Supplies:
- Empty jar with a secure lid
- Glue
- Cardstock
- Washable paint
- Gems, beans, marbles, beads - anything similar will work!
Instructions:
- Cut your white card stock to fit inside your jar
- Add a few drops of paint to your jar
- Add your paper to the jar
- Add your gems, beans, marbles or beads to the jar. 5-6 will work perfectly
- Secure your lid
- Give the jar to your child and let them shake!
- When your child is finished shaking, take the paper out and allow it to dry
- Once your paint has dried, cut out your paper into whatever size of hearts you’d like
- Glue your hearts onto another piece of colored cardstock
Valentine Name Craft from ABCs to ACTs
Supplies:
- Red, pink, and black construction paper
- Pipe cleaners
- Glue
- Scissors
- Markers or crayons
- Googly eyes
Instructions:
- You will need to cut a heart out for each letter of your child’s name
- Choose what color of hearts you will want to make from your construction paper
- Fold your construction paper in half and use a marker to draw an outline of half a heart
- Cut out hearts
- Write one letter on each heart
- Cut a heart out for your bug’s head
- Cut small hearts to add to the antenna
- Use pipe cleaners for the antenna
- Add googly eyes and finish drawing the face
- Use a small amount of glue to glue the edges of the hearts together
- Finally, use a small amount of black construction paper to add feet!
Conversation Heart Chart from Pocket of Preschool
Supplies:
- Conversation heart chart printable
- Conversation hearts
Instructions:
- Have your child line up each color of heart, with the matching color on the chart
- Have your child count each color of heart
- Choose a pattern printable and have your child match the pattern on the paper with conversation hearts
Heart Sticker Shapes from Play to Learn Preschool
- Printable shape pages
- Heart or valentine stickers
Instructions:
- Give your child a shape page you’ve printed and a sheet of heart stickers
- Tell them to start sticking the stickers along the outline of the shape
While you could do these activities any day of the year, small adjustments can make these activities a fun Valentine’s themed activity. Not only are each of these activities simple, but they are fun and help your child learn and practice developmental skills!
