How to Keep the Kids Staying Home Busy

The question that almost every mom has asked themselves at least once since becoming a parent: “how do I keep my child, who is at home all day, busy?” This is a question many parents have been asking themselves more often now that working from home is much more common. Keeping your child busy, without feeling guilty by giving them too much screen time, can be a tough balance.

Virtual field trips

With the internet right at our fingertips there are so many educational and fun opportunities. Many zoos, aquariums, and farms with live camera feeds. Some even have specific virtually guided tours. Many museums have this feature as well. You can even let your little one explore space!

Read aloud Online

Another fun activity is finding your child’s favorite book being read aloud online! They can follow along on their own!

Arts and crafts Station

Set-up an arts and crafts area with supplies like paper, stickers, painters tape, and other age appropriate materials.

Sensory bins or a table

There are so many different ideas online that provide a guide to create your own sensory bin. Create a bin that focuses on something your child is really into, like animals, space, dinosaurs, etc.

Create a routine and schedule

Humans, especially kids, thrive on schedules and knowing what to expect. While every family is different, you still have a particular set of things you do each day. Draw your schedule out on a paper for your child to see. This can help days run smoother and allow you to complete tasks you need to finish.

Explore somewhere new

This could be trying a new park, visiting a local library, or going to the zoo. Every area usually has a lot of different activities available.
