WHY EPILEPSY?

In March 2020, founder Nikki’s 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy and since then they have been doing their best as a family to adjust to this new way of life in handling this diagnosis.

WHAT IS EPILEPSY?

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects the nervous system. Epilepsy is also known as a seizure disorder. It is usually diagnosed after a person has had at least two seizures (or after one seizure with a high risk for more) that were not caused by some known medical condition.

HOW COMMON IS EPILEPSY?

As many as 65 million people worldwide have epilepsy including 3.4 million in the United States, 470,00 of whom are children. 1 in 26 people in the US will develop epilepsy at some point in their lives, so you probably already know someone who has epilepsy!

HOW CAN I HELP?

Supporting epilepsy research can help to increase understanding and treatment options for the millions of people diagnosed with epilepsy. Learning seizure first aid is another great way to be prepared in case someone you know experiences a seizure. Check out these seizure first aid resources from the Epilepsy Foundation.
